DERBY AC's Kirsty Shipman continued her impressive cross country season by winning the senior girls' title in the Derbyshire Schools Cross Country Championships.

Representing Derby West – she attends Joseph Wright College – Shipman's was the outstanding performance of the day as she outstripped the opposition in temperatures down to -6C.

Competitors from all over the county travelled to St Mary's College, Spinkhill, to the north of the county just south of Sheffield, for this year's event.

Shipman, who has also won the Derbyshire under-17 cross country title this winter, is now awaiting confirmation of here selection to represent the county in the English Schools Athletic Association National Cross Country Championships, which are to be held at Ilton in Somerset in March.
