Share prices on the up for most local firms

BURTON pub company Punch Taverns was the best performer in what was a good week all round for the top 10 local listed companies.

The firm's share price went up by more than 10% over the last seven days.

It was closely followed by Somercotes chocolate-maker Thorntons, which last week reported a positive set of half-year results. News that its profits rose by 25% over the past six months saw its value go up by 9.75%.

Nine companies reported an increase in share price. The only exception was troubled car maker Toyota, whose share price was down 1.2%.

1. PUNCH TAVERNS: UP from 76.7p to 84.7p, a rise of 8p or 10.4%. (London Stock Exchange FTSE 100. Restaurants, pubs and breweries).

2. THORNTONS: UP from £1 to £1.09.75, a rise of 9.75p or 9.75%. (London Stock Exchange FTSE Food and Drug Retailers).

3. CITIGROUP (parent company to Egg): UP from £2.03 to £2.21, a rise of 18p or 8.9%. (Listed on the Dow Jones as Citigroup Inc).

4. MOLSON COORS: UP from £24.23 to £26.17, a rise of £1.94 or 8%. (Listed on the Dow Jones).

5. MARSTON'S: UP from 84.45p to 91.1p, a rise of 6.65p or 7.9%. (London Stock Exchange FTSE 250).

6. BOMBARDIER: UP from £3.25 to £3.40, a rise of 15p or 4.6%. (Listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange as Bombardier Inc).

7. RECKITT BENCKISER: UP from £33.24 to £34.70, a rise of £1.46 or 4.4%. (London Stock Exchange FTSE 100).

8. ROLLS-ROYCE: UP from £5.06.5 to £5.27, a rise of 20.5p or 4%. (London Stock Exchange FTSE 100).

9. UNILEVER: UP from £18.68 to £19.32, a rise of 64p or 3.4%. (London Stock Exchange FTSE 100).

10. TOYOTA: DOWN from £24.04 to £23.75, a fall of 29p or 1.2%. (Listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange as Toyota Motor Corp).
