A SHOPKEEPER, who police believe was drunk while in charge of his store, has had his licence to sell alcohol on his premises revoked by Derby City Council.

But Intars Cervinskis, who owns Inchstoresuk Amanda in Osmaston Road, Allenton, has appealed against the decision.

His case will heard at South Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on April 11.

In a statement, Chief Superintendent Jagdev Atwal said an officer found Intars Cervinskis in his store so drunk he couldn't stand up.

Mr Cervinskis said he had not been drinking and his behaviour was down to medication taken for pain in his knee.

His licence was revoked by the council's general licensing sub-committee.
