Sign petition to stop this scheme destroying NHS
THE item, "New groups led by GPs are '100% ready' to run health service", (Derby Telegraph, January 17), was interesting.
Having absorbed former PCT employees, established teams of administrators and involved our GPs and other practitioners in hours of meetings, it would indeed have been shocking if they were unable to meet the April 1 deadline.
What is not revealed is the cost of this reorganisation over the past two years.

The Conservatives did not win the election but this has not stopped them. Without a mandate they are pushing through their scheme which will destroy the NHS.
Dr Newport reminds us that finances will now be controlled by GP-led management teams – the CCGs.
The Government is even now producing more regulations which will allow NHS money – our money – to be spent only on services procured through competitive tendering by Any Qualified Provider (AQP).
In England 105 private healthcare firms have been granted AQP status – United Health, In Health Care, Virgin Care and Specsavers to name a few. These are not benevolent organisations.
Do you want a system where making money from people when they are ill becomes the norm?
Do you want to have to show your ability to pay or go into debt, before you visit your GP, call an ambulance, have cancer treatment?
Sign the 38 degrees on-line local petition and help our South Derbyshire CCG withstand privatisation.
