Smooth progress for Denby after beating Rolls-Royce
DENBY have lifted the Marston's Smooth Trophy after overwhelming Rolls-Royce in the final at Spondon CC.
The trophy is the main knockout competition for leading clubs outside the Derbyshire Premier League, contested over 50 overs per side, and Denby posted an imposing 256-7 when they batted first.
Liam Glenn, going in at 49-2, was the mainstay, with 86 from as many balls, including six sixes, while Ramesh Subasinghe hit 54 not out from 43 balls.
Royces were never at the races in response and Subasinghe proved irresistible with the ball, taking 5-22 from six overs in an all out total of 92 from 25 overs.
