Met Office forecaster Dave Britton said about 15cm of snow had fallen across Derbyshire.
Last night he said: “The worst of the snow is now over. However, it will be a very frosty and icy start to Monday morning.
“We have put weather warnings out for widespread icy conditions across Derbyshire and there could be some fog patches, making for quite tricky driving conditions.
“There are going to be very icy conditions overnight for the next few nights.”
Mr Britton said there was a “good chance” rain would fall overnight, which would freeze on the ground, causing icy roads and pavements today.
Temperatures last night were expected to fall to -3C.
Mr Britton said the weather would improve but that temperatures will remain low.
He said: “Monday is going to be mainly dry with broken cloud, with some morning fog slow clear.
“A bright spell in the afternoon is possible, along with patchy rain or sleet.
“Day-time temperatures will be no higher than 4/5C.
“Tuesday will also be largely dry, with the occasional bright spell, but mainly cold.”
