SPONDON wasted no time in staying ahead in the Derbyshire Indoor Cricket League, thrashing relegation-threatened Ilkeston by six wickets to maintain their 100% record in Division One.

Tom Williams and Dean Vickers took two wickets each as Ilkeston were dismissed for 73 and the leaders knocked off the runs without loss in only four overs.

Second-placed Aston-on-Trent were scarcely less clinical in seeing off Stainsby Hall.

Atiq Bhatti took three wickets as Stainsby were sent packing for 84 and Aston knocked those off without loss as well.

Dan Bould top-scored with an unbeaten 39 as Brailsford ran up the highest score in Division One, setting Nutbrook 141-2.

But they needed almost every one of those as Nutbrook put up a spirited chase before falling four runs short with only wicket standing.

Rolls-Royce were comfortable winners over Alvaston & Boulton, who stay rooted to the bottom of the table.

Sahd Shafiq scored 38 not out in Royces' 115-4, then took 2-3 as A&B folded for 67.

In Division Two, it is still neck-and-neck in the title race between Marehay and West Hallam after emphatic wins for both.

Marehay scored 174-1 against Brailsford B before shooting them out for 46 for a 128-run win which has boosted their runs-to-wickets average no end.
