CRICKET: Spondon are battling it out for the chance to play in front of the Sky Sports cameras this weekend.

The Derbyshire Premier League side have been invited to take part in the north regional finals day of the Cockspur Club Twenty20 competition at South Northumberland CC tomorrow.

Spondon will take on the hosts – North East Premier League champions – at 11.30am, with the winners going through to play Ormskirk for a place in the national final.

That final – featuring the four regional winners – will be played at Glamorgan's SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, September 28, and will be televised live on Sky Sports.

Spondon skipper Sam Kellogg said: "We are taking it very seriously as there is a good reward if we win – the chance to play in a fantastic stadium and in front of the TV cameras."
