VIDEO: St Patrick's Day parade and celebrations in Derby city centre

THE annual St Patrick's Day celebrations took over the city centre.

A parade with hundreds of people wound its way through Iron Gate to St Mary's Church on Saturday, where a mass took place at 11am.

The parade, headed by Birmingham pipes and drums band, led people back to the Market Place for a show of Irish dancing by Glendarragh academy of Irish dancing.

From 1.30pm to 4pm, a civic reception at the Irish centre, in Becket Street, took place.
