A PLAN by supermarket giant Tesco to build a wind turbine outside a Derbyshire store will be considered next week.

The supermarket wants to put the 10.6-metre-high turbine on the site of its Waverley Street store, in Long Eaton.

It wants the turbine to help reduce energy costs and make it more environmentally-friendly.

But planning officers at Erewash Borough Council have recommended that the planning committee refuse permission because they say the turbine would spoil the look of the area.

The committee will discuss the plan on December 17.
