LEEDS United are lining up a bid to take Derby County striker Rob Hulse back for a second spell at the club.

Hulse has been the subject of much transfer speculation since the end of the season and Leeds are the latest to be linked with a move for the player following their promotion back to the Championship.

The 30-year-old front man turned down a £4m move to Middlesbrough last August and Derby rejected approaches from Burnley and Stoke City to take the target man on loan in January.

But Hulse is about to enter the final 12 months of his current contract and the Rams may be willing to cash in on him this summer as they aim to further reduce the club's wage bill.

"As much as we'd like to keep Rob, financially, we will maybe look to sell him," said Derby first-team coach Gary Crosby.

"So we'll just see what happens with that.

"You do hear various things but it is only talk at the moment. There is nothing definite.

"Other clubs will be active in the market and most clubs want a striker who is going to get you some goals."

Crosby, though, would not be drawn on what kind of transfer fee the Rams would be looking for.

"It's difficult to actually put a figure on it," he said. "There are many different aspects of a deal that you have to look at.

"So we'll just look at every offer if and when they come in.

"There is nothing to report at the moment but it can all change very quickly."

Hulse has been Derby's top scorer for the past two seasons.

He hit 18 goals in 2008-9 following his £1.75m transfer from Sheffield United and picked up the Jack Stamps Trophy after being named the fans' player of the year.

In 2009-10, he led the way with 12 League goals in 37 appearances.

Leeds, like Derby, are also keen on in-demand duo Gary Hooper and Billy Sharp but Hulse is firmly on their radar too.

The former Crewe trainee joined Leeds from West Bromwich Albion five years ago following a successful loan spell.

He was the club's joint top scorer in 2005-6 with 14 goals, including a hat-trick against Derby in a 3-1 win at Elland Road.

His goals helped to take Leeds to the brink of promotion but they lost out in the play-off final to Watford.

That summer, he was sold to Sheffield United in a £2.2m deal.

Now, it seems, Leeds – who are also keen on Derby defender Paul Connolly – would like to have him back.

DERBY County's president and chief executive Tom Glick is being tipped for a possible place on the Football League board.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston will have to give up his spot on the board following the Seasiders' promotion to the Premier League.

Glick and Sheffield Wednesday's Lee Strafford stood against Oyston at the last election.

Strafford has since resigned from his position at Hillsborough, while Glick has not yet made a decision whether to run again.

Former Rams chairman Adam Pearson was appointed to the Football League board while still at the club last summer and would be eligible for a swift return to the post after Hull City were relegated to the Championship.
