GOALKEEPER Stuart Tomlinson has signed a one-month extension to his temporary contract with Burton Albion as he continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury.

Tomlinson's initial deal when he signed as a free agent took him to January but he is ahead of schedule with his recovery and could be ready to rejoin the squad by the end of January.

He was due to discuss a permanent deal with the club just before sustaining the injury against Port Vale in October.

The extension keeps him at Burton until February 7.

"We are really pleased that Tomo is ahead of schedule in his recovery and we've always wanted to support him through the injury," said manager Gary Rowett.

"We see him as part of the squad and the very second that he's back fit, we will look at doing something longer.

"This extension allows some more time for him to get back fit again."
