STUDENTS at Burton College have grown sunflowers over 11ft tall as part of a horticultural project.

The students, who are on the Learning for Life programme, designed for adults with learning difficulties, grew the plants from seed as part of their weekly horticultural lessons.

Lecturer Julia Curtis said: "The sunflowers have been an amazing success and it has been extremely rewarding to see the learners overcome a range of disabilities."
