Sumpter saves day
SHAUN Darnell's try – converted by Ryan Beresford – was enough to secure Long Eaton's 7-3 home win against Cleethorpes in Midlands Four East (North).
But it took a last-ditch tackle by Gary Sumpter to ensure Cleethropes did not snatch victory at the death.
The hosts dominated the opening phases but could not breach the try line, before Cleethorpes opened the scoring with a penalty, after missing one earlier.
Long Eaton took control after the break and were eventually rewarded when Darnell powered over.
