A TEAM of financial advisers have pledged to donate £100 to a fund set up to send a four-year-old cancer sufferer to America, every time someone switches insurance cover.

Lewis Mighty has neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, and has already undergone three months of chemotherapy and a seven-hour operation to remove a tumour wrapped around the blood supply to his kidney.

But doctors were only able to remove 20% of the cancer and the youngster has just a 10% to 20% chance of surviving two years.

His parents, Jaime and Perry, of Hounslow Road, Mackworth, are trying to raise £300,000 to send Lewis to New York for treatment which is not available in the UK.

Financial advisers from Derby-based firm Oodles are heading up the Lewis Mighty Fund. The team has now pledged to donate £100 to the fund every time someone switches existing life insurance to a cheaper insurance company through them.

Money will also be donated when people change critical illness cover, income protection policies and mortgage cover.
