Taking the plunge: Ross Davenport finds new use for water
Olympic swimmer Ross Davenport found a new use for water yesterday – training as a fireman. The retired double Commonwealth champion and three-time Olympian took part in a series of gruelling tests to see if he could make it as a retained firefighter. Having always wanted to become a fireman, he was at Kingsway fire station, in Derby, to spend a day with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.
