A ROBBER held a knife to a taxi driver's throat before stealing his takings.

The 64-year-old cabbie had been called to pick up a fare in Devon Close, Chaddesden, at around 9pm on Sunday.

Two men came from a home in the street and got into the taxi.

One man sat in the front and one in the back.

The man in the front then pulled out a knife and threatened the driver before fleeing with the cash.

A 29-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of robbery. He was interviewed and bailed pending further inquiries.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call police on 0345 123 3333 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
