SEVEN taxis have had their licences removed after being found with defects.
Police and Derby City Council licensing officers checked 21 taxis for defects as part of an ongoing operation.

The Hackney and private hire taxis were stopped one day last week.
Of the seven taxis which had defects, five were classed "serious" and were given prohibition notices. These stop the cars from being used again until the defects are fixed.

The defects which led to the notices being issued included steering, suspension, brakes and exhaust emissions problems.
Roads policing officer PC Lee Simpson said: "This a very busy time for taxi drivers and they need to make sure their vehicles are roadworthy.
"Further checks will be carried out in the run-up to Christmas to ensure the safety of passengers.
"We take defects very seriously and drivers should be aware."
