Teacher accused of sex acts with child and 'voyeurism' recordings

A TEACHER has appeared in court charged with 21 offences of indecency against 11 females – eight of them schoolgirls.

Russell Singleton is alleged to have abused his position of trust.

The 56-year-old faces seven charges of sexual activity with a girl while she was aged 15 and 16, on dates between August 2010 and March 30 this year.

Singleton is further accused of 11 counts of taking or making indecent photographs of eight girls aged between 13 and 17 on dates between 2003 and April 14 this year.

He is also alleged to have committed three offences of voyeurism by recording private acts for sexual gratification.

These allegations relate to images of females aged between 17 and 23 using a toilet or shower on dates between 2005 and last December.

Singleton, of Heanor, entered no pleas to the charges when he appeared before magistrates at Chesterfield.

The case was committed to Nottingham Crown Court for a hearing on March 5 next year.

He was granted bail.
