A DERBY-BASED teaching union hopes to reach a wider audience by taking a stand at a national education event.

Visitors to the Education Show at the NEC in Birmingham, on Friday, March 5, will be able to discuss current issues in education with the general secretary of Voice, the union for education professionals, which is based in Friar Gate.

Philip Parkin, who will be on stand Q56 between 11am and 3pm, said: "If anybody wants to discuss current issues, find out more about the work of Voice and its policies, or just have a chat about being or becoming a member, I look forward to meeting them on the stand."

Voice, previously the Professional Association of Teachers, represents more than 36,000 teachers, head teachers, education support staff, early years practitioners and childcarers, and college and university lecturers across the UK.
