Derbyshire complete win in final home game
Derbyshire wrapped up victory before tea on the final day of their LV County Championship match against Gloucestershire at the County Ground.
Gloucestershire, needing 398 in their second innings for victory, were bowled out for 280, leaving Derbyshire victors by 118 runs in their last home game of the campaign.
Resuming on 118-2, the away side were hit twice by Charl Langeveldt in the first hour. The South African had Hamish Marshall caught behind by Tom New for 31 at 120-3 and followed up with the wicket of Alex Gidman for nine, caught at point by Wayne White at 132-4.
But Chris Taylor and Steve Kirby held them up for 17 overs before Taylor was caught by New off Greg Smith for 35 in the penultimate over before lunch.
The stubborn vigil of night watchman Kirby was finally ended two overs after lunch when he was lbw to Langeveldt for 28 and it was a matter of time then for Derbyshire.
Gloucestershire were not making it easy for them but one wicket each for White, Graham Wagg and Ian Hunter brought the end closer and it was left for Wagg to complete the win by removing Anthony Ireland's middle stump.
That meant Wagg had become the first Derbyshire player since 1934 to score 100 runs and taking 10 wickets in a match.
