Thorntons reports festive sales boost
DERBYSHIRE chocolate maker Thorntons has reported a welcome rise in sales over the festive period.
In the 14 weeks up to and including January 12, the Somercotes firm saw sales increase by £4.5 million, to £88 million, which is a 5.4% increase on the same period 12 months ago.

Thorntons' performance was primarily driven by commercial sales, which are sales through supermarkets, which grew by 26.4%, to £34.7 million.
But sales at its own stores fell by 9%, to £40.9 million and at franchised outlets sales fell by 27%, to £3 million.
