The 32-year-old exposed himself to girls as young as 13 in the West End part of Derby. He was caught after repeated complaints from women led police to carry out an undercover operation in the early hours of the morning.

Officers spotted Jones acting suspiciously on December 20 and arrested him.

At Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court, he pleaded guilty to two offences of sexual exposure.

One happened on December 6, near Mundy Street, and a similar offence occurred in Darley Park on July 19.

Detective Sergeant Rick Crowther, from the force's Operation Diamond team, led the investigation.

He said: "Jones clearly got some kind of buzz from exposing himself to women of a variety of ages without the slightest concern about the impact what he was doing would have on his victims.

"Some of the younger victims have said they feel fearful walking to school now while other people have told us they choose different routes to walk to work away from where their ordeals with him occurred.

"The thankful thing is that by admitting to a number of other offences it has saved those victims of having to come in to see detectives for questioning and reliving their ordeals again."

Sergeant Crowther said the offences happened during the day and at night and the descriptions the victims gave his team led them to build up a profile on him.

He said: "Where the offences were happening was a pretty tight area and we had a very good description of Mr Jones.

"Once we got him in for questioning, he admitted to two offences. When we put these extra offences to him he admitted them all as well.

"His victims were always females and there was no violence involved at all. He simply got some sort of thrill from exposing himself to women."

Jones was granted bail and will be sentenced at Derby Crown Court on February 28.
