DERBY residents have been clamouring to get to South Africa for the next stages of the World Cup and everything else the beautiful country has to offer.

Sadly many lions and rhinos and other animals have much to fear from the influx of tourists from Derby and elsewhere.

"Canned hunting" has become popular among tourists – it involves fenced-in animals being shot with either bows or rifles.

It is perfectly legal in South Africa but we would like to see this practice banned immediately.
