Tom's tango keeps him in contention for dance title
STRICTLY Come Dancing star Tom Chambers has moved a step closer to the final after winning the judges' approval this week.
The Holby City actor and former Repton School pupil got the second highest score in Saturday's show, with all four judges giving him nine points.
He and dance partner Camilla Dallerup are one of just five couples left in the show, thanks to their performance of the tango.
Judge Arlene Phillips said the dance had "drive" and "passion". She said: "You stalked the floor – it was a gripping tale of tango."
But despite his high scores, 31-year-old Tom was told by judge Bruno Tonioli: "You need a bit more refinement, then you'll get that championship."
The highest score of the night went to Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone, who got the maximum 10 points from all the judges.
Model and television presenter Jodie Kidd was the 11th celebrity to leave the show after she lost a dance-off against Lisa Snowdon and Brendan Cole.
Her exit followed that of John Sergeant, who got a standing ovation when he appeared on the show for the final time on Saturday. The 64-year-old ex-journalist decided to pull out earlier this week. He had been kept in by the public vote despite maulings from the judges.
