Toyota boss predicts profits in Europe
A BOSS at Toyota has said that the company’s European business will make a profit in its current fiscal year.
Speaking ahead of the start of the Geneva Motor Show this week, Didier Leroy, president and chief executive of Toyota Motor Europe, said he expected the business to be profitable for the first time since 2007.

Mr Leroy said the company, which has its UK manufacturing plant at Burnaston, had been buoyed by new models and the growing popularity of hybrid cars in Europe.
Toyota makes the Auris hybrid at its Derbyshire plant. This summer it is expected to start making an estate version of the Auris, called the Auris Touring Sports.

Toyota’s current fiscal year ends in March.
Mr Leroy said that the company was aiming for an even better performance in 2013.
He said: “In 2013, we want to sell more than 2012, even if we don’t know yet what the volume will be.”
