Trader register is the key to finding reliable people
CHOOSING a business to work on their house or provide a financial service can be a major headache for people who fear falling prey to dodgy workmen or rip-off merchants.
Derbyshire Trusted Trader scheme, which was set up by Derbyshire County Council in 2007, aims to help you find honest and reliable traders who will commit to doing a good job for a fair price.
And the scheme doesn't just cater for traders offering customers a service for their home, such as plumbers, builders, roofers, decorators, joiners, electricians and gardeners.
You can also find retailers, graphic designers, solicitors, dressmakers, osteopaths, hypnotherapists and psychotherapists among the ranks of registered Trusted Traders.

In fact, there are more than 200 different types of business and service providers whose work has been checked and approved under this popular scheme.
You can search online for the type of trader you need by visiting www.derbyshire .gov.uk. Traders are listed alphabetically – just click on "P" to find a recommended plumber, for instance.
To gauge the breadth of recommended services, clicking on "G" will lead you to graffiti removal, guttering and garden maintenance.
