Transfer talk: Sheffield Wednesday; Chelsea; Stoke City; Middlesbrough; Southampton; Cardiff City; Ipswich Town
Sheffield Wednesday want to take Chelsea youngster Jack Cork
on loan for the rest of the season, according to reports.
Stoke City have completed the signing of Southampton
defender Andrew Davies for a fee of about £1.3m.
The 23-year-old has put to paper on a four-year contract
only eight months after joining Southampton from Middlesbrough
following a loan spell.
Potters boss Tony Pulis said: "He is a good young player who
has got ability and some Premier League experience."
Cardiff City have signed Northampton Town defender Gabor
Gyepes to replace Glenn Loovens, who has joined Celtic for
£2.5m.
The 27-year-old Hungarian international signed on a two-year
deal for a fee thought to be in the region of £200,000.
Gyepes said: "I hope to play for Hungary again but must
concentrate on gaining a starting place and performing well for
Cardiff."
Ipswich Town have put their bid for Shola Ameobi on hold
because of a hamstring injury to the Newcastle United
striker.
The problem was revealed by a medical and is unlikely to
heal before the end of the August transfer window.
"It's disappointing but you have to be careful with
hamstring injuries," said Ipswich boss Jim Magilton.
