SOUTHAMPTON have completed the signing of Chelsea defender
Jack Cork on loan until the trun of the year.
Saints boss Jan Poortvliet has brought the 19-year-old to
St. Mary's in order to reinforce the defence following the
departure of Andrew Davies.
Cork can play across the defence and has been used as a
holding midfielder while on loan at Scunthorpe and
Bournemouth.
Cork captained England at this summer's European under-19
Championship.
NORTHAMPTON Town manager Stuart Gray is targeting Wolves
defender Mark Little as a replacement for Gabor Gyepes, who has
joined Cardiff City.
The 20-year-old made 17 League appearances during a loan
spell with the Cobblers last season and has not featured in
Wolves' first team this season.
BIRMINGHAM CITY boss Alex McLeish is still keen to sign
Celtic defender Bobo Balde.
Wolves have also shown an interest in the 32-year-old but
have been put off by the player's financial demands.
Balde has been out of favour at Parkhead and is said to have
been told he can leave Celtic on a free transfer.
He appeared set for a move to Birmingham at the end of last
month but the deal fell through.
CHARLTON Athletic winger Jerome Thomas has joined Portsmouth
after initially signing for them in a one-year loan.
The Addicks will recieve a small fee for Thomas depending on
appearances
The former England U-21 international, who joined Charlton
from Arsenal for £100,000 four and a half years ago, has signed
a one-year contract.
WATFORD boss Aidy Boothroyd has shelved plans to sign Ivory
Coast defender Sol Bamba from Dunermline.
The Hornets had agreed a deal for the player, who has been
in Beijing for the Olympics.
But after he returned, Dunfermline boss Jim McIntyre said
the Championship side had had a change of heart.
TONY McMahon has joined Championship side Sheffield
Wednesday on a month-long loan.
The right-back will join the Owls to replace Richard Hinds,
who has a broken leg.
