Traveller family to be found a site by district council
A TRAVELLERS' site might have to be found in the Derbyshire Dales.
The area's district council is dealing with a travelling family currently camped on land at Bakewell Showground.
Legally, the council must provide accommodation suitable to an applicant's individual needs – in this case, a site for their caravans.
A temporary site for a maximum period of nine months has been identified at Rowsley but this is subject to planning permission.

Three sites have been identified as possibilities and each will be discussed at a council meeting to be held on January 22.
The district council's chief executive, Dorcas Bunton, said: "We understand that whichever site is eventually chosen, there will be local opposition, but the district council cannot ignore its responsibilities and legal duties."

“How about a site just a few hundred miles off the west coast of Ireland - might be a bit wet, but they'll get full value for their enormous Council Tax contributions there (none whatsoever)”
