Unavailability hits Sandiacre
JOHN Trueman does not see a once-dominant Sandiacre Town side challenging for the Derbyshire Premier League title again until they can get more first-team players able to turn out every week.
“Quite simply, we were not good enough,” said Trueman.

FALLING SHORT: Akhil Patel on his way to 44 for Sandiacre.
“We didn't get enough runs against what, no disrespect, is a functional Quarndon bowling attack.
“We followed that with lazy fielding and bad catching and, if we had won the game, it wouldn't have changed the basic problems that we have.
“Some are playing first-team cricket before they're ready for it, which is not their fault, and, somehow, we've got to find three or four guys who want to play for Sandiacre Town week in, week out.
“At the moment, we go from one week to another not knowing which team we're going to put out but it's not been bad planning, it's just a situation that has crept up on us, really.
“From next week, we're going to see more players becoming available but that's not been a help to us in the first half of the season.”
Trueman (pictured) accepted that his side had bowled well for much of the game but conceding three extra overs to Quarndon put Sandiacre on the back foot in the second innings of the match.
“The run rate was never beyond them,” he said.
“If we'd managed 15 more runs and not given them three overs, that would have been, effectively, 30 more runs they'd have needed and it could have been different.”
