Rogers confident for Cardiff clash
CRICKET: Chris Rogers is optimistic he will be able to make his farewell appearance for Derbyshire in their final LV County Championship fixture next week.
A knee problem had made the Australian batsman a doubt for the trip to Cardiff to face Glamorgan but a scan has shown there is no need for surgery.
The injury has been diagnosed as inflammation at the back of the knee and a little bone bruising and Rogers, who is to leave Derbyshire to join Middlesex from the start of next season, has had a steroid injection to help speed up his recovery.
"I was a bit concerned because I also have to think about getting ready to go home to play for Victoria," he said.
"It's a relief that there doesn't look to be anything seriously wrong and I'm hoping I'll be fit to play against Glamorgan."
