ILLEGALLY imported cigarettes and tobacco worth £50,000 have been seized by trading standards officers in Derby.

The counterfeit goods were found during raids on premises in the city during an undercover sting by Derby City Council trading standards, police and Scambusters East Midlands.

Three people have been arrested and are currently on bail pending further enquiries.

Councillor Bob Troup, cabinet member for housing and public protection, said: "It's vital we continue the fight against counterfeit criminals and I'm relieved that we've helped take such a large quantity off the streets."
