Volunteer named as best in county at awards night
A VOLUNTEER at a Derbyshire tourist attraction has been named as the best in the county at an awards ceremony.
Alan Barber, volunteer at Crich Tramway Village, scooped the Best Volunteer gong at the Excel Tourism Awards following a ceremony at Chatsworth House.
The awards were set up by Visit Peak District and Derbyshire to recognise and reward outstanding individuals who have made a difference to the local tourism industry.
Mr Barber said: "I'm thrilled to bits.
"It is a real honour to be the recipient of the Best Volunteer award."
Judges said they chose him for the award because of his great love and dedication for the museum.
