ERIC Wright won the closing match of the Bridge Inn AC winter league but had to settle for second in the final overall standings.

Wright won the Shelton Lock club's contest, fished at Jansens Fishery, with a 13lb 3oz total after using pellet and the pole.

Bob Barker was the closest challenger with 6lb 10oz, while Joe Howitt was third with 2lb 9oz.

Lee Bennett had the most to cheer as he finished top of the league with 10 points. Wright was second on 11.

Bridge Inn will start their spring league on Saturday, March 3, with the opening match being held at Marstons Pool in Barrow-on-Trent.
