This is Derbyshire

Derbyshire were made to stay patient on the first day of

their LV County Championship match against Warwickshire at

Edgbaston.

By tea, Warwickshire, who won the toss, had grafted to

187-3, with Jon Trott 55 not out and Jim Troughton 12 not

out.

Graham Wagg marked his first Championship appearance on the

ground since he left in 2004 with the first wicket in the sixth

over, as Ian Westwood drove him to second slip Rikki Clarke for

five at 9-1.

Warwickshire had to be watchful in the swinging conditions but

Darren Maddy and Tony Frost put on 73 in 21 overs before

Derbyshire took their second wicket.

Frost had made 25 before mistiming a pull at Wavell Hinds to

Paul Borrington at midwicket at 82-2.

Maddy made it to 73 before he cut loosely at a Jon Clare ball

and was caught by Wagg at backward point at 138-3 but that was

Derbyshire's only success of the session.
