Wayne Madsen makes good start in return for Derbyshire CCC in Barbados
AFTER sitting out all the previous games on the pre-season tour to Barbados, Wayne Madsen set out to make the most of his last chance to bat.
The Derbyshire captain moved on to 38 not out at lunch on the second day of their match against Nottinghamshire at North Stars out of a total of 79-1 in 29 overs, in response to Notts' 386.
There were spells of rare and welcome rain overnight, which slowed down the outfield and demanded a watchful start from the Derbyshire openers, but they safely put on 32 in 13 overs before Billy Godleman was drawn into a hook at a Ben Phillips ball and was caught by James Taylor at square leg.
Godleman made 15 but Madsen's timing became noticeably better in the second hour as Ben Slater joined him at the crease.
