Williamson backs circus animal ban
DERBY North MP Chris Williamson has pledged his commitment to securing a ban on the use of wild animals in UK circuses.
Mr Williamson, a strong animal rights supporter, is backing the campaign by Animal Defenders International.
More than 20 MPs gathered on Wednesday at Parliament to show their commitment to calling on the minister responsible, Lord Henley, to take action.
Mr Williamson is one of 162 politicians who have now signed a parliamentary early day motion calling for the wild animal ban to be implemented.
He said: "I have been campaigning for a ban all my adult life. It is long overdue and I shall put my full weight behind ADI's campaign."
