Willmott, Rossi take plaudits in wet weekend
WAS there enough cricket to make our County League Player of the Week awards this week?
We decided that there was, since there were a good few games played on Sunday.
The best effort by a batsman was Mark Rossi's 87 for Melbourne Town away at Aston on Trent seconds in Division 4S.
Unfortunately for Rossi, it wasn't enough to bring his side a positive result, as what looked a good total of 181-4 in only 31 overs was knocked off in only 23.2 overs by Aston.
Mark Willmott takes the bowling prize with 4-12 and he enjoyed a much better day for Clay Cross thirds in Division 7N.
Willmott's bowling followed up his 73 not out, as Clay Cross made 226-5 and then bowled out Riddings thirds for 155.
The result consolidates Clay Cross's second place in the table.
In the Derby Mortgage Advisors Premier League Player of the Season awards, players scored points in the only game to start, with Lullington Park's Ahmed Amla making a significant move, taking three points for his 85 not out, moving him up to fourth in the overall standings.
