MERCIA Marina tea room should be open tomorrow for business as usual after a weekend fire.

Firefighters from Derby were called to Mercia Marina tea room yesterday after decorative logs surrounding a wood burning stove ignited.

The Willow Tree log cabin tea room, in Findern Lane, Willington, was closed at the time and no-one was hurt by the blaze.

Crews from Kingsway and Ascot Drive stations attended the 10m by 5m cabin at 1.50pm.

A spokeswoman from the tearooms said the cafe had been closed at the time because it was being refloored.

She said: "We are hoping to be open by Tuesday. The fire wasn't serious – just a little bit of cosmetic damage."

The tea room looks out over the 74-acre marina, which opened four years ago.
