Woman airlifted to hospital after crash in icy conditions
A WOMAN had to be airlifted to hospital after a rush hour crash in icy conditions.
The 38-year-old had to be cut from her Vauxhall Astra after her car collided with a Skoda Octavia in Littlewell Lane, between Stanton-by-Dale and Ilkeston.
The woman suffered chest injuries, as well as potential abdominal and pelvis injuries, and a badly fractured ankle.
She was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire by air ambulance.

The man and two teenage girls in the Skoda were unhurt.
Police said Littlewell Lane was closed following the crash, which happened at around 8.15am yesterday, due to the dangerous conditions.
Meanwhile the B5023 Wirksworth Road heading out of Duffield was closed after black ice caused a 4x4 to leave the road.
The Jeep Cherokee crashed into a ditch just before 9am causing a minor injury to the female driver's leg.
Forecasters said yesterday that temperatures overnight were expected to be around freezing again with the cold snap expected to continue into the weekend.
Drivers are warned to take care when travelling early in the day due to potential black ice.
