A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a house fire.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was rescued from the third floor of the house in Alexandra Road, Swadlincote, at 12.45pm yesterday.

When fire crews arrived they found the fire in a second-floor bedroom of the house.

They rescued the woman and paramedics gave her oxygen before transferring her to Queen's Hospital, Burton, suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.
