Work begins on flood defence measures in south Derbyshire
WORK on flood defences for three towns in south Derbyshire will begin today.
The work, which includes raising roads and increasing the height of flood defences at Scropton, Egginton and Hatton along the River Dove.
-

Egginton is among villages in south Derbyshire which are regularly flooded, including this time in January this year.
The area has been plagued by flooding and it is hoped that the new 5km of improved defences will increase house prices and lower insurance premiums.
The work has been funded from various sources including £1.65 million from Nestlé UK which works in Hatton and will take around 12 months to complete.

“They appear to be raising the height of the road through Hatton up to the A50 by depositing an inch of mud on it. The road cleaners they send up and down the A511 seem to just half-heartedly move it around a bit.”
