CARLTON Television Workshop is an organisation that develops the talent of young actors and actresses, with bases in Nottingham, Birmingham and Leeds.

Also known as the Television Workshop, it provides free training for youngsters and offers film and television producers a pool of acting talent.

Since its launch in 1983, it has received wide critical acclaim, winning numerous awards, including a 2006 Children's Bafta for its outstanding development of young talent.

Manjeeven Gruwal and Georgia Groome are the latest in a long line of actors and actresses whose careers have been launched by the workshop.

Hollywood actress Samantha Morton, who starred alongside Tom Cruise in Minority Report, started out there.

Other famous alumni include Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chastity Dingle in Emmerdale, and Doctor Who star Joe Dempsie.
