OSCAR-nominated Morgan Freeman stars as South African President Nelson Mandela, desperately trying to unite a country tortured by its apartheid past.
When he sees his political allies looking for revenge against their old white oppressors, he begs for tolerance. The Springboks rugby team is revered by white South Africans but hated by their black countrymen. When South Africa is awarded the Rugby World Cup, Mandela sees a chance to unite the nation behind the team.
Directed by Clint Eastwood, Invictus also stars Matt Damon as the Springboks' captain.
Quad has teamed up with the Derby Telegraph to offer an old-style midweek matinee.
Each Wednesday at 2pm, Qt's film critic Nigel Powlson introduces a film at a bargain admission price of £5 (£4 concessions) including free tea or coffee and biscuits.
