MORE burial space is set to be created at Derby's largest cemetery in a bid to meet the city's needs for the next 10 to 15 years.

The city council has set aside £1.9 million in its capital budget to pay for the work at Nottingham Road Cemetery, including a new road system, paths and seating. Its cabinet is set to make a decision on the plan on March 20.

A report drawn up by council officers for the meeting says 30% of the city's population still chose burial and for some cultures it is the only option.
