FOUR schoolchildren and a pensioner were taken to hospital after a two-car collision during morning rush hour.

The smash, between a silver Toyota Avensis and a black Mitsubishi Warrior, happened at about 8.45am in Larkfield Road, Nuthall.

The schoolchildren, aged between 12 and 13, were taken to Queens Medical Centre, in Nottingham, along with a 75-year-old driver.

Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

Two dogs were also struck in the collision and have been taken to the RSPCA, with one suffering serious injuries.

A stretch of Larkfield Road was shut for more than two hours while police carried out an investigation. It has now reopened.
