A POP group dubbed as the "next big thing" performed to hundreds of fans in Westfield yesterday.

The Wanted performed their latest single, All Time Low, to the crowd of screaming fans who queued for hours.

Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker, Nathan Sykes and Jay McGuiness also signed copies of their latest CD.

Vocalist Tom said: "It is amazing to see so many people here. We're new on the scene but there has been a lot of excitement on the radio."

Max has already had a taste of fame – he appeared on the X-Factor in 2006 with his former band, The Avenue.

Janine Bone, centre manager at Westfield Derby, says: "We were so excited to have the band here at Westfield and, after seeing them perform, we think they're going to be huge. There were hundreds of girls queuing up to meet them and everyone absolutely loved them."

Jess Middleton, 17, was in the crowd with her two friends. She said: "They are a very good-looking band. We can't wait to see them."

The Wanted's debut single was released on Monday. It is riding high in the midweek download charts.
