UNION officials say they have no confidence in the chief executive of East Midlands Ambulance Service because of plans to change the way it operates.

Colin Todd, regional organiser of the GMB union, said that the proposals – which include the possibility of replacing Derbyshire's 16 ambulance stations with two "super-centres" – were "flawed, unworkable and dangerous" and that his members were "angry".

Public consultation is now taking place over the plans. Mr Todd described it as a "sham".
