Tuesday, June 24, 2008, 07:30

ILKESTON Rutland dragged themselves out of the Derbyshire Premier League relegation zone with their second winning draw of the weekend against Quarndon yesterday.

Following their good result at Spondon on Saturday, Ilkeston had the better of their match with Quarndon at Rutland Sports Park.

The home side batted first and managed a total of 242-7 from their 50 overs.

South African import Jay Adendorff led the way with 61, accompanied by a knock of 43 from Andy Flindall.

Richard Lidsey was the pick of the bowlers with 3-73.

After tea, James Ede struck an unbeaten 81 for Quarndon, while skipper Robin Williamson made 38.

But the visitors never looked like getting close to the target and closed well short of victory on 158-4.

The result sees Ilkeston climb two places up to ninth in the league table.

Ticknall are the team now second from bottom and they were also in action yesterday, suffering a heavy defeat to Caythorpe in Group C of the Premier Cup.

Nottinghamshire outfit Caythorpe amassed 284-8 from their 50 overs.

William Sabey top-scored with 81, with Andrew Hunt (55) also reaching a half-century.

Josh Bolus (37) and Leon Botha (36) also chipped in, while Sam Woodburn (3-56) Graham Chamberlain (3-66) got among the wickets for Ticknall.

It always looked an imposing target and in reply, the South Derbyshire side could only reach 177-7.

That was despite the efforts of Rob Dumelow, who was unbeaten on 49, Woodburn (36) and Tanvir Ahmed (31).
